Michelle Freeman (Grade 5) moved to Los Angeles 7 years ago, after graduating Ithaca College. While in upstate NY, she taught both 3rd and 5th grades at one of the two Religious Schools. She was also the Hebrew teaching assistant at the college for three semesters. She is excited to return to Temple Isaiah for another year.
Shula Hazany (Grade 5) has been teaching at Temple Isaiah for five years. For over twenty years, she has been teaching at various synagogues throughout Los Angeles. Shula is a graduate of Machon Gold, Israel. Shula and her husband Ben have four children, all college graduates.
Cantor Richard Schwartz (Grade 5) lives in Culver City with his wife and daughter. He currently spends Shabbat each week leading services for Temple Isaiah in Palm Springs, CA! Richard grew up in NYC, attended Jewish day school through the 12th grade, and graduated the University of Massachusetts with a BA in vocal performance. After living in Germany for one year, he moved to Los Angeles where, in addition to pursuing a career as a singer-songwriter, trained to become a Cantor. For most of the past 18 years Richard has taught children as a B'nai Mitzvah instructor, music specialist, Hebrew teacher, Tfillah leader, and advisor. He taught the Fifth Grade class last year at Temple Isaiah and is excited to be doing so again this year.
